Where two Ways Met - Mrs X - 11-14-2011

I didn't see this thread here yet and hope it is okay to start it myself. I posted this in the comment section but it will probably get lost in the shuffle.

I get so angry when I see money spent on frivolous things like those street signs (as if they are important to the work of God.)That money could have been well spent on giving to the poor or (real) missions. I'm curious how much money it takes to have these street signs made.

Anyone know?

LOL. I was trying to find a polite way to say it. What are they supposed to do, not have street signs?

On another note, we should probably conduct a poll on how many people who come to this site regularly recognized that book title! I sure did.

I guess the issue is that they are not actually streets but more like driveways. So the signs are simply a vanity thing.

On the flip side, the 'road' I live on is more accurately a path through a parking lot yet has its own legal street name. Go figure.

I'm uncomfortable with judging how people or churches spend their money, except in fairly clear cut cases (Benny Hinn, Robert Tilton, and you can fill in the fundy equivalents for me since I know there are plenty).

With that said, I assume we're talking about the picture in this post. Somehow, I want to guess that, as a percentage of money wasted by the fundies in question, these street signs were but a tiny amount.

I didn't recognize the GLH book title, but I remember the scripture passage, because some evangelist when I was a kid preached a whole sermon on it. I don't remember anything about the sermon or who preached it. The scripture is when Jesus sent the disciples on Palm Sunday to get a donkey for Him to ride on. They found the donkey "in a place where two ways met."

In my church, there is quite an exorbitant amount of money thrown into what is called the "program" and imho it's just a way to build up an empire focused around building up a man.

Of course street signs are neccesary. But these street signs are not real.
